How residential bin rental in Aurora works

Three steps. You tell us what is going in and where the bin can stand. A truck sets the empty bin on that spot, and later a truck takes it away full. Nobody usually has to be at the house for either visit. We need the exact spot, and room for the truck to get to it.

Our yard is in Mississauga, and the trucks that serve Aurora also go to Newmarket, Richmond Hill and Markham.

  1. 01

    Tell us about the job

Call or email with what you are clearing, where the bin can stand, and when you need it.

  2. 02

    The bin arrives

A truck sets the bin down where you asked. Nothing is emptied at your place: you or your crew fill it when it suits you.

  3. 03

    It leaves full

The truck takes the whole bin away, and the load is weighed at the dump.

How much does garbage bin rental in Aurora cost?

Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. An Aurora address adds nothing to the price.

On the rental, the bin size and what goes in set the price. With household and renovation waste, the price includes some weight: 2 tonnes for a 14 yard bin, 3 tonnes for a 30 yard and 4 tonnes for a 40 yard. The full bin is weighed at the dump, and each tonne over what the price includes is added. The fill line marked on each bin shows how high to load it. Going over it costs extra, and so does keeping a bin past 7 days.

If the driver has no room to set the bin down on the day, that is a failed delivery. Bin rental prices lists it with the other extra charges.

Can a bin go on your driveway in Aurora?

Yes, on your own land. In Aurora, the road takes in the boulevard, from the property line to the edge of the curb, so where a driveway reaches the street can be Town land.

On the Town’s roadways, the answer is no: bins and storage of materials are not permitted on Aurora roadways, and a bin stored on the road can bring enforcement and a fine.

Where is the dump in Aurora, and when is it open?

None of York Region’s public drop-off depots is in Aurora. The three that take household garbage are the Georgina Transfer Station, at 23068 Warden Avenue, and two Community Environmental Centres, at 1124 Elgin Mills Road East and 130 McCleary Court.

When York Region’s three garbage drop-off sites are open right now, their 2026 fees, and the bin Big Bin rents for soil.

Each site takes garbage, concrete, drywall and untreated wood for a fee. Right now, the Town points construction and demolition waste there, and a couch or other furniture goes in at each site as garbage, for the same fee. Vehicles are weighed to set the charge.

Keep a renovation load sorted: clean drywall goes in apart from drywall that is painted or has nails in it, and concrete has to be hard, with no rebar, and kept away from asphalt and brick. Asbestos is not taken at any of the three.

Every site asks for proof of a York Region address, and takes payment by cash, debit, American Express, Mastercard or Visa. Elgin Mills turns away any vehicle larger than a 16-foot cube truck. At all three, residents drop off household hazardous waste, scrap metal and electronics at no charge, though right now Georgina takes hazardous waste on Tuesdays and Saturdays only. If those items share a load with garbage, the fee applies to the entire load.

Before you load a rented bin, look up any item you are unsure of in What can go in a bin.

Garbage and junk removal in Aurora

In Aurora, a rented bin takes the junk from a clear-out and the waste from a renovation together: furniture, mattresses, household contents, scrap metal, drywall, cabinets, tile and branches. If something is unusual, call 416-458-4324 before the bin arrives. To choose between a bin and junk removal, see Bin rental or junk removal?

Right now, the Town of Aurora picks up household garbage every other week. Three bags or cans go out free, and up to three more each need a bag tag, which costs $6.00 source [14] in 2026. No bag or can may weigh more than 22 kg, and a can may hold 133 litres at most.

Construction and demolition waste is not collected at the curb in Aurora.

Furniture, mattress and appliance removal in Aurora

Since the start of 2026, Aurora picks up a couch or other furniture, a mattress, a box spring, plastic lawn furniture, a toilet or carpeting only as a booked large item, not as tagged garbage. Book by 10 a.m. on the Monday of your garbage week, and put out no more than five items.

Appliances, barbecues with the propane tank removed, hot water heaters, bikes and other metal items are picked up only on a booked collection, and unbooked metal is left at the curb. Take the doors off fridges, freezers, ovens, dishwashers, washers and dryers before they go out.

Yard waste pickup in Aurora

Right now, the Town of Aurora collects yard waste every second week from April to the first week of December, with no limit on the amount. Leaves, weeds and plant trimmings go out; grass clippings, sod, soil and tree stumps do not.

Set it out in paper yard bags, or in a rigid open-top container with sturdy handles and a yellow Yard Waste sticker, which the Town hands out free. A bag, container or bundle can weigh up to 22 kg. Tie branches with twine into bundles no longer than 1.2 metres, and leave out any branch thicker than 10 cm.

York’s Georgina site also takes yard waste, for a fee, and so does its centre at 130 McCleary Court.

Will an Aurora load weigh more than the bin includes?

Old shingles, brick and tile are heavier than they look in a pile. Tell our free weight calculator how long, wide and tall your pile is, and it gives a rough weight in tonnes, so before booking you can see whether the weight your bin includes covers your load.

Which disposal bin size suits an Aurora job?

All three of our bins come to Aurora: 14, 30 or 40 yard. Two questions pick the size: what is going in, and how much of it there is.

What is going in comes first. Concrete and soil each go in a 14 yard bin of their own, never together, and either one is priced flat, with no charge for weight. Keep them clean too: if anything else is in with them, the bin is not taken away. If you have filled the bin by the time that is found, a charge applies as well. Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size. Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. To see why concrete gets its own bin, read Concrete disposal.

How much comes second. A garage clear-out or a basement of old furniture fills a bin by space, not by weight. If a bin fills up before the job is done, a second bin costs extra, so leave some room when you choose. To compare the three bins side by side, see the Bin size guide.

Before a bin comes to your Aurora address, look at the way in as well as the spot. The truck needs about 25 feet of headroom to lift its bed, 10 feet of width and 65 feet of straight, clear space to back in. These are rough numbers, so call and describe the spot if yours is tighter.

Construction bin rental in Aurora

On an Aurora construction site, a bin full of household and renovation waste can be swapped for an empty bin of that size. With household waste, the empty bin comes with the same weight included as the first one, and its own 7 days on site, counted from the swap. Each household-waste swap is billed as one trip for a bin that size, never as another rental. There is no swap rate for clean concrete or clean soil, so every bin of either after the first costs the full price again.

For a site bin in Aurora, the Town does not allow construction material, bins or containers to be stockpiled on its roads.

Bin rental for contractors sets out how swaps work on a long job. Construction bin rental helps when the waste changes as the build goes on. Running several Aurora jobs, or managing a building? See Commercial bin and dumpster rental.

Bin rental in Aurora: common questions

Do I need a permit for a bin in Aurora?

Not for a spot on your own land, though the end of a driveway by the street can be Town land. A Town road is off limits: the Town says bins and storage of materials are not permitted on Aurora roadways, and a bin stored there can bring enforcement and a fine.

Where is the dump in Aurora?

York Region runs no drop-off site in Aurora. You can take household garbage to its Georgina Transfer Station at 23068 Warden Avenue, open right now Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or to its centres at 1124 Elgin Mills Road East and 130 McCleary Court, which open at 8:30 a.m. from Wednesday to Sunday and close at 4:30 p.m., or 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. In 2026, up to 100 kg costs $11 source [12]; a heavier load is $180 source [12] a tonne. Each site asks for proof of a York Region address.

How much does dumpster bin rental cost in Aurora?

Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. That price includes delivery, pickup and 7 days. Weight over what a bin includes adds to it, and so do a load above the fill line and a bin kept longer. The price is the same anywhere in Aurora. Get your own price online.

What can go in a bin in Aurora?

Furniture, mattresses, household contents, wood, drywall, cabinets, tile, carpet, roofing shingles, scrap metal, fencing and branches can go in a bin of household and renovation waste. Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size. Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. Paint, propane tanks, batteries and tires stay out of the bin and go to a drop-off of their own. In Aurora, household hazardous waste goes to York Region’s waste depots, which take it from residents at no charge. If something is unusual, call 416-458-4324 before the bin arrives. For the rest, item by item, see What can go in a bin.

Do you rent commercial bins in Aurora?

Yes. Big Bin rents the same 14, 30 and 40 yard roll-off bins to businesses and buildings in Aurora, one bin or one job at a time. See Commercial bin and dumpster rental.

Can yard waste go in a bin in Aurora?

A bin of household and renovation waste takes fencing, decking, sod, branches and brick from a landscaping job. Brick goes in with other household and renovation waste, but it is heavy for its size: the price includes 2 to 4 tonnes of weight, by bin size, and each tonne over that costs extra. Brick uses up that weight fast.

Can I rent a bin for clean fill or concrete in Aurora?

Yes. Clean soil, or clean concrete, each goes in a 14 yard bin of its own, with nothing else in it. In Aurora, removing topsoil, placing or dumping fill, or changing the grade of land needs the Town’s site alteration permit, unless the by-law exempts the work.
