How much does garbage bin rental in Oshawa cost?
Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. There are two bills, from two different places. If the bin needs the City’s road occupancy permit, the City charges for it and you pay the City. Everything else is the rental, and an Oshawa address adds nothing to it.
On the rental, the bin size and what goes in set the price. With household and renovation waste, the price includes some weight: 2 tonnes for a 14 yard bin, 3 tonnes for a 30 yard and 4 tonnes for a 40 yard. The full bin is weighed at the dump, and each tonne over what the price includes is added. The fill line marked on each bin shows how high to load it. Going over it costs extra, and so does keeping a bin past 7 days.
If the driver has no room to set the bin down on the day, that is a failed delivery. Bin rental prices lists it with the other extra charges.

Can a bin go on your driveway in Oshawa?
Yes, on your own land: a bin that stays inside your property line needs no City permit. The City’s Boulevard By-law counts the strip between the street line and the curb as part of the road, so the end of a driveway nearest the curb can be City land.
A bin on a City street needs the City’s road occupancy permit, and the City sets conditions of its own for storage containers. One of them is a season: these applications are not approved between 1 December and 1 April.
On the road, the bin must be coned off the way Ontario’s traffic manual sets out, and it may not block the access or driveways of neighbouring properties. Whoever holds the permit answers for any damage the bin does to the road or boulevard when it is dropped off, stored and picked up.
Some Oshawa roads are not the City’s to permit: the Region of Durham issues permits for work done on Regional roads, and the Region shows which roads are its own in its Regional Roads List.
Right now, you apply for the City’s permit yourself; Big Bin does not apply on a customer’s behalf.

Where is the dump in Oshawa, and when is it open?
The Region of Durham’s Oshawa Waste Management Facility, at 1640 Ritson Road North, is open to the public Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and until 6 p.m. on Tuesdays from the first Tuesday in May to the first Tuesday in October.
Your vehicle crosses a scale coming in and another going out, and staff at the exit scale tell you the cost. Pay with Visa, Mastercard or debit: no cash, cheques or accounts are accepted.

The facility takes appliances, carpet and underlay, drywall, furniture, garbage, porcelain bathroom fixtures, scrap metal and wood.
The site is closed on all holidays. Household hazardous waste, such as paint, solvents, propane tanks and batteries, is dropped off for free, up to 50 litres or 25 cans a vehicle each day. Asbestos is not accepted.
Bring hazardous waste as a load of its own: a load with anything chargeable in it is charged on its whole weight.
The facility also has a paint reuse centre, where residents drop off or collect good, reusable paints and stains at no cost, up to five cans a vehicle a day.

Garbage and junk removal in Oshawa
In Oshawa, a rented bin takes the junk from a clear-out and the waste from a renovation together: furniture, mattresses, household contents, scrap metal, drywall, cabinets, tile and branches. The City itself collects garbage from Oshawa homes of eight or fewer units, and garbage day comes every other week, on the same weekday. Put the garbage out by 7 a.m. that day, but not before 6 p.m. the night before. It goes out in bags only, never in cans: four bags per home each collection, none over 20 kg.
Right now, each bag past the four needs a City tag, at $2.50 source [6] a tag. Construction material, concrete, drywall and wood waste are not taken at the curb.
Furniture, mattress and appliance removal in Oshawa
The City of Oshawa picks up furniture, mattresses and large appliances at the curb, and there is no fee to book a Large Item Collection. Book it online or through Service Oshawa at least two business days before your regular garbage day, subject to availability.
It is for the same homes the City collects garbage from. Each pickup takes up to six items, none longer than 3 metres or heavier than 70 kg.
Couches, sofas and love seats, mattresses and box springs, fridges, freezers, stoves, washers, dryers and air conditioners are all on the City’s list. Remove all doors from appliances first, and take the propane tank off a barbecue. Demolition and renovation material, drywall and wood waste among it, is not collected.

Which dumpster bin size suits an Oshawa job?
