How residential bin rental in Etobicoke works

Three steps. You tell us what is going in and where the bin can stand. A truck sets the empty bin on that spot, and later a truck takes it away full. Nobody usually has to be at the house for either visit. We need the exact spot, and room for the truck to get to it.

Our yard is in Mississauga, and the trucks that serve Etobicoke also go to North York, Scarborough, Brampton and Vaughan.

  1. 01

    Tell us about the job

Call or email with what you are clearing, where the bin can stand, and when you need it.

  2. 02

    The bin arrives

A truck sets the bin down where you asked. Nothing is emptied at your place: you or your crew fill it when it suits you.

  3. 03

    It leaves full

The truck takes the whole bin away, and the load is weighed at the dump.

How much does garbage bin rental in Etobicoke cost?

Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. There are two bills, from two different places. If the bin needs a Street Occupation Permit from the City, the City charges for it and you pay the City. Everything else is the rental, and an Etobicoke address adds nothing to it.

On the rental, the bin size and what goes in set the price. With household and renovation waste, the price includes some weight: 2 tonnes for a 14 yard bin, 3 tonnes for a 30 yard and 4 tonnes for a 40 yard. The full bin is weighed at the dump, and each tonne over what the price includes is added. The fill line marked on each bin shows how high to load it. Going over it costs extra, and so does keeping a bin past 7 days.

If the driver has no room to set the bin down on the day, that is a failed delivery. Bin rental prices lists it with the other extra charges.

Can a bin go on your driveway in Etobicoke?

Yes, if it stands on your own land, where no City permit applies. In Etobicoke, the City’s street takes in the boulevard, right up to the property line, and the City’s land can take in the end of your driveway nearest the road.

In Etobicoke, a bin in the road or a public laneway needs the City’s Street Occupation Permit: it covers any project that spills past the property line onto the boulevard, the sidewalk, the roadway or a public lane. The permit’s application form names the City’s Etobicoke York District office, at the Etobicoke Civic Centre, 399 The West Mall, for wards 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7 of Toronto.

Closing the street, the sidewalk or a public lane for the bin adds a step: the City needs a letter on how long the closure lasts, and a work schedule.

No room on your Etobicoke lot? A bin can stand in the roadway or a lane behind the house instead, with the City’s permit.

Your permit ends at the edges of your lot. To use the street beyond it, the neighbouring owner has to consent in writing.

For the time being, the permit application is yours and not Big Bin’s.

Where is the dump in Etobicoke?

Etobicoke’s dump is the Disco Transfer Station, the City depot at 120 Disco Road. The site has a transfer station and a drop-off depot, and Etobicoke residents can use the depot for their own loads.

Your vehicle crosses the weigh scales as you come in, and a deposit of at least $40 source [9] is paid before anything comes off. The depot takes cash, debit and credit cards, and the unloading is up to you. Each load is weighed to the nearest 5 kg, and paying cash rounds the fee to the nearest dollar.

Bring a safe motor vehicle and secure the load before leaving home: the City refuses walk-ins, bikes, hand carts and any load that is not secured.

Garbage and junk removal in Etobicoke

In Etobicoke, a rented bin takes the junk from a clear-out and the waste from a renovation together: furniture, mattresses, household contents, scrap metal, drywall, cabinets, tile and branches. If something is unusual, call 416-458-4324 before the bin arrives. To choose between a bin and junk removal, see Bin rental or junk removal?

In Etobicoke, garbage goes to the curb every second week for a house on daytime collection. When your City garbage bin is full, more bags can sit beside it, bagged and tagged, up to 20 kg each, with a City tag at $6.81 source [13] apiece in 2026. The curb takes no construction, demolition or renovation waste. During a renovation or a demolition, a house can opt out of City collection for a stretch of six months or more.

Which disposal bin size suits an Etobicoke job?

All three of our bins come to Etobicoke: 14, 30 or 40 yard. Two questions pick the size: what is going in, and how much of it there is.

What is going in comes first. Concrete and soil each go in a 14 yard bin of their own, never together, and either one is priced flat, with no charge for weight. Keep them clean too: if anything else is in with them, the bin is not taken away. If you have filled the bin by the time that is found, a charge applies as well. Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size. Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. To see why concrete gets its own bin, read Concrete disposal.

How much comes second. A garage clear-out or a basement of old furniture fills a bin by space, not by weight. If a bin fills up before the job is done, a second bin costs extra, so leave some room when you choose. To compare the three bins side by side, see the Bin size guide.

How big is each bin?

How big is each bin?
BinMeasurementsSuits

30 yard5'4" high × 20' long × 7'6" wideA full renovation, taking off a roof, clearing out a house, a mid-size demolition.
40 yard7' high × 20' long × 7'6" wideA whole-house renovation, fitting out a store or office, a long building job.
The three bins, measured height by length by width, with the household and renovation jobs each one suits.

Before a bin comes to your Etobicoke address, look at the way in as well as the spot. The truck needs about 25 feet of headroom to lift its bed, 10 feet of width and 65 feet of straight, clear space to back in. These are rough numbers, so call and describe the spot if yours is tighter.

Construction bin rental in Etobicoke

On an Etobicoke construction site, a bin full of household and renovation waste can be swapped for an empty bin of that size. With household waste, the empty bin comes with the same weight included as the first one, and its own 7 days on site, counted from the swap. Each household-waste swap is billed as one trip for a bin that size, never as another rental. There is no swap rate for clean concrete or clean soil, so every bin of either after the first costs the full price again.

An Etobicoke site bin that has to sit on the street needs the City’s Street Occupation Permit. Builders working inside a Construction Hub pay 25 per cent over the standard fee; homeowners doing a small renovation of their own pay the standard rate.

Bin rental for contractors sets out how swaps work on a long job. Construction bin rental helps when the waste changes as the build goes on. Running several Etobicoke jobs, or managing a building? See Commercial bin and dumpster rental.

Renting a bin in Etobicoke: common questions

Do I need a permit for a bin in Etobicoke?

No, not on your own land, though the end of a driveway at the road can be the City’s land. A bin on an Etobicoke road or in a public lane does need one: the City’s Street Occupation Permit. For now, you take out the permit yourself, not Big Bin.

Where is the dump in Etobicoke?

At the Disco Transfer Station, 120 Disco Road, open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Garbage and renovation waste there cost $19 source [9] for up to 100 kg and $189.86 source [9] a tonne beyond it, with a deposit of at least $40 source [9] paid first.

How much does dumpster bin rental cost in Etobicoke?

Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. That price includes delivery, pickup and 7 days. Weight over what a bin includes adds to it, and so do a load above the fill line and a bin kept longer. The price is the same anywhere in Etobicoke. If the bin stands on an Etobicoke road or in a lane, the City’s permit costs $73.89 + HST source [1] a day in 2026. Get your own price online.

What can go in a bin in Etobicoke?

Furniture, mattresses, household contents, wood, drywall, cabinets, tile, carpet, roofing shingles, scrap metal, fencing and branches can go in a bin of household and renovation waste. Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size. Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. Paint, propane tanks, batteries and tires stay out of the bin and go to a drop-off of their own. If something is unusual, call 416-458-4324 before the bin arrives. For the rest, item by item, see What can go in a bin.

Do you rent commercial bins in Etobicoke?

Yes. Big Bin rents the same 14, 30 and 40 yard roll-off bins to businesses and buildings in Etobicoke, one bin or one job at a time. See Commercial bin and dumpster rental.

Can yard waste go in a bin in Etobicoke?

A bin of household and renovation waste takes fencing, decking, sod, branches and brick from a landscaping job. Brick goes in with other household and renovation waste, but it is heavy for its size: the price includes 2 to 4 tonnes of weight, by bin size, and each tonne over that costs extra. Brick uses up that weight fast. In Etobicoke, the City picks up yard waste every other week on garbage day, from around mid-March to mid-November.

Can I rent a bin for clean fill or concrete in Etobicoke?

Yes. Clean soil, or clean concrete, each goes in a 14 yard bin of its own, with nothing else in it. In Etobicoke, the City’s depots accept no soil, sand or concrete. What a soil bin takes is in Soil and fill disposal.
