How residential bin rental in Vaughan works

Three steps. You tell us what is going in and where the bin can stand. A truck sets the empty bin on that spot, and later a truck takes it away full. Nobody usually has to be at the house for either visit. We need the exact spot, and room for the truck to get to it.

Our yard is in Mississauga, and the trucks that serve Vaughan also go to Toronto, Richmond Hill, Markham, Brampton, Caledon and Aurora.

  1. 01

    Tell us about the job

Call or email with what you are clearing, where the bin can stand, and when you need it.

  2. 02

    The bin arrives

A truck sets the bin down where you asked. Nothing is emptied at your place: you or your crew fill it when it suits you.

  3. 03

    It leaves full

The truck takes the whole bin away, and the load is weighed at the dump.

How much does garbage bin rental in Vaughan cost?

Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. There are two bills, from two different places. If the bin needs the City’s road occupancy permit, the City charges for it and you pay the City. Everything else is the rental, and a Vaughan address adds nothing to it.

On the rental, the bin size and what goes in set the price. With household and renovation waste, the price includes some weight: 2 tonnes for a 14 yard bin, 3 tonnes for a 30 yard and 4 tonnes for a 40 yard. The full bin is weighed at the dump, and each tonne over what the price includes is added. The fill line marked on each bin shows how high to load it. Going over it costs extra, and so does keeping a bin past 7 days.

If the driver has no room to set the bin down on the day, that is a failed delivery. Bin rental prices lists it with the other extra charges.

Can a bin go on your driveway in Vaughan?

Yes, on your own land. The City of Vaughan calls the section of the driveway between the sidewalk and the road part of the boulevard, so the street end of a driveway can be City land.

On the street, or on City land between the street and your property line, a bin needs an approved road occupancy permit. The application needs a traffic control plan and a sketch of the spot.

Some main roads in Vaughan are York Region’s, and every York road carries a numbered Regional road sign. On a road with that sign, ask the Region about a bin.

At present, the person renting the bin applies for the City’s permit, not Big Bin.

Where is the dump in Vaughan, and when is it open?

Vaughan’s public drop-off is York Region’s McCleary Court Community Environmental Centre, at 130 McCleary Court, open Wednesday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and closed Mondays, Tuesdays and holidays. It sits at Creditstone Road and Highway 7.

It takes household garbage, concrete, drywall, untreated wood and yard waste, each for a fee, and weighs every vehicle to work out the charge. Concrete must be hard, with no rebar in it, and kept apart from asphalt and brick, and clean drywall goes separately from painted drywall or drywall with nails. Keep recyclables out of a garbage load, since York then charges for the whole load. Payment is by cash, debit or an American Express, Mastercard or Visa card, and proof of residency is required.

Household hazardous waste goes in at no charge for York Region residents, up to 60 litres a day. Every item a rented bin takes is listed in What can go in a bin.

Garbage and junk removal in Vaughan

In Vaughan, a rented bin takes the junk from a clear-out and the waste from a renovation together: furniture, mattresses, household contents, scrap metal, drywall, cabinets, tile and branches. If something is unusual, call 416-458-4324 before the bin arrives. To choose between a bin and junk removal, see Bin rental or junk removal?

Right now, the City of Vaughan picks up garbage every other week, with a limit of three items. Past three, each item needs a paid tag, up to 13 items in all from one address on a collection day, and a sheet of 10 tags is $26 source [9]. Set it out after 6 p.m. the night before and by 7 a.m. No item can be longer than 1.5 metres.

Building waste stays out: the City does not collect renovation material, drywall or lumber.

Furniture, mattress and appliance removal in Vaughan

Right now, furniture, mattresses and toilets go out with Vaughan’s garbage, with no booking, and each one counts toward the three-item limit. A big item can weigh 68 kg at most, and the City can refuse one that is unsafe, overweight or oversized. Take the mattress out of a sofa bed and tie its frame.

Appliances go by appointment: the City collects large appliances and metal items on Thursdays, and right now each appliance costs $39 source [11]. The pickup takes fridges, freezers and stoves, washing machines, clothes dryers, dishwashers, air conditioners, furnaces and hot water tanks, though not commercial-sized appliances. Book before noon on Wednesday for that week’s pickup, and remove the doors from fridges, freezers and stoves first.

Yard waste pickup in Vaughan

Right now, the City of Vaughan picks up leaf and yard waste weekly from late April, and in fall 2026 weekly again from Tuesday, 13 October to Friday, 4 December. It takes leaves, branches, twigs, shrubs, weeds, garden waste and pumpkins.

Use Kraft paper bags, or open-top containers of up to 121 litres marked “Leaf and Yard Waste”. The stickers for them are at select community centres while supplies last, and plastic bags are not allowed. Tie branches with string, none more than 10 cm across, and set everything out after 6 p.m. the night before and by 7 a.m. The pickup leaves stumps, root balls, soil, rocks and stones behind.

Will a Vaughan load weigh more than the bin includes?

Tile, plaster and wet wood are heavier than they look in a pile. Our free weight calculator turns the pile’s length, width and height into a weight in tonnes, so you can tell before booking if your load is heavier than what the bin includes.

Which disposal bin size suits a Vaughan job?

All three of our bins come to Vaughan: 14, 30 or 40 yard. Two questions pick the size: what is going in, and how much of it there is.

What is going in comes first. Concrete and soil each go in a 14 yard bin of their own, never together, and either one is priced flat, with no charge for weight. Keep them clean too: if anything else is in with them, the bin is not taken away. If you have filled the bin by the time that is found, a charge applies as well. Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size. Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. To see why concrete gets its own bin, read Concrete disposal.

How much comes second. A garage clear-out or a basement of old furniture fills a bin by space, not by weight. If a bin fills up before the job is done, a second bin costs extra, so leave some room when you choose. To compare the three bins side by side, see the Bin size guide.

How big is each bin?

How big is each bin?

30 yard5'4" high × 20' long × 7'6" wideA full renovation, taking off a roof, clearing out a house, a mid-size demolition.
40 yard7' high × 20' long × 7'6" wideA whole-house renovation, fitting out a store or office, a long building job.
The three bins, measured height by length by width, with the household and renovation jobs each one suits.

Before a bin comes to your Vaughan address, look at the way in as well as the spot. The truck needs about 25 feet of headroom to lift its bed, 10 feet of width and 65 feet of straight, clear space to back in. These are rough numbers, so call and describe the spot if yours is tighter.

Construction bin rental in Vaughan

On a Vaughan construction site, a bin full of household and renovation waste can be swapped for an empty bin of that size. With household waste, the empty bin comes with the same weight included as the first one, and its own 7 days on site, counted from the swap. Each household-waste swap is billed as one trip for a bin that size, never as another rental. There is no swap rate for clean concrete or clean soil, so every bin of either after the first costs the full price again.

For a site bin on a Vaughan street, the City approves its road occupancy permit only on roads it maintains and runs itself, so a street in a new subdivision may need a different approval.

Bin rental for contractors sets out how swaps work on a long job. Construction bin rental helps when the waste changes as the build goes on. Running several Vaughan jobs, or managing a building? See Commercial bin and dumpster rental.

Bin rental in Vaughan: common questions

Do I need a permit for a bin in Vaughan?

Not on your own land, though the City counts the stretch of driveway between the sidewalk and the road as boulevard, which can be City land. On a City road, yes: a bin there needs the City’s road occupancy permit, and the City wants the application at least 10 business days ahead. On a York Region road, ask the Region. At present you apply for it, not Big Bin.

Where is the dump in Vaughan?

Vaughan’s public drop-off is York Region’s McCleary Court Community Environmental Centre, at 130 McCleary Court. It opens Wednesday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and closes on holidays. A load of up to 100 kg costs $11 source [8], and a heavier one $180 source [8] a tonne. Bring proof that you live in York Region; cash, debit, American Express, Mastercard and Visa are taken.

How much does dumpster bin rental cost in Vaughan?

Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. That price includes delivery, pickup and 7 days. Weight over what a bin includes adds to it, and so do a load above the fill line and a bin kept longer. The price is the same anywhere in Vaughan. On a City road, the City’s simple road occupancy permit for 1 to 59 days is $355 source [2] in 2026. Get your own price online.

What can go in a bin in Vaughan?

Furniture, mattresses, household contents, wood, drywall, cabinets, tile, carpet, roofing shingles, scrap metal, fencing and branches can go in a bin of household and renovation waste. Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size. Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. Paint, propane tanks, batteries and tires stay out of the bin and go to a drop-off of their own. In Vaughan, York Region’s McCleary Court centre takes household hazardous waste from residents at no charge. If something is unusual, call 416-458-4324 before the bin arrives. For the rest, item by item, see What can go in a bin.

Do you rent commercial bins in Vaughan?

Yes. Big Bin rents the same 14, 30 and 40 yard roll-off bins to businesses and buildings in Vaughan, one bin or one job at a time. See Commercial bin and dumpster rental.

Can yard waste go in a bin in Vaughan?

A bin of household and renovation waste takes fencing, decking, sod, branches and brick from a landscaping job. Brick goes in with other household and renovation waste, but it is heavy for its size: the price includes 2 to 4 tonnes of weight, by bin size, and each tonne over that costs extra. Brick uses up that weight fast.

Can I rent a bin for clean fill or concrete in Vaughan?

Yes. Clean soil, or clean concrete, each goes in a 14 yard bin of its own, with nothing else in it. The City of Vaughan says its Site Alteration By-law does not apply to individual residential properties, where keeping the grading is the homeowner’s job, and that most residential construction projects need a City grading permit. An infill lot grading approval is $1,003.00 source [15] in 2026.

Can I rent a bin in Woodbridge?

Yes. Big Bin’s 14, 30 and 40 yard roll-off bins go to Woodbridge, in the City of Vaughan, at the same price as anywhere else we deliver. A bin on a City street in Woodbridge needs the City’s road occupancy permit.

Can I rent a dumpster in Thornhill?

Yes. Big Bin’s 14, 30 and 40 yard roll-off bins go to Thornhill, at the same price as anywhere else we deliver. A bin on a Vaughan street there needs the City’s road occupancy permit.
