How garbage bin rental in Newmarket works

Three steps. You tell us what is going in and where the bin can stand. A truck sets the empty bin on that spot, and later a truck takes it away full. Nobody usually has to be at the house for either visit. We need the exact spot, and room for the truck to get to it.

Our yard is in Mississauga, and the trucks that serve Newmarket also go to Aurora, Richmond Hill, Markham and Vaughan.

  1. 01

    Tell us about the job

Call or email with what you are clearing, where the bin can stand, and when you need it.

  2. 02

    The bin arrives

A truck sets the bin down where you asked. Nothing is emptied at your place: you or your crew fill it when it suits you.

  3. 03

    It leaves full

The truck takes the whole bin away, and the load is weighed at the dump.

How much does garbage bin rental in Newmarket cost?

Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. A Newmarket address adds nothing to the price.

On the rental, the bin size and what goes in set the price. With household and renovation waste, the price includes some weight: 2 tonnes for a 14 yard bin, 3 tonnes for a 30 yard and 4 tonnes for a 40 yard. The full bin is weighed at the dump, and each tonne over what the price includes is added. The fill line marked on each bin shows how high to load it. Going over it costs extra, and so does keeping a bin past 7 days.

If the driver has no room to set the bin down on the day, that is a failed delivery. Bin rental prices lists it with the other extra charges.

Can a bin go on your driveway in Newmarket?

Yes, on your own land. The Town’s road by-law counts the boulevard, between the property line and the roadway, as part of the road, so the part of your driveway by the street can be Town land.

Not on a Town road: the road by-law bans bins on any part of it.

Where is the dump in Newmarket, and when is it open?

Newmarket has none of York Region’s drop-off sites within its borders. For household garbage, York’s Community Environmental Centres at 130 McCleary Court and 1124 Elgin Mills Road East take a load, and so does the Georgina Transfer Station, 23068 Warden Avenue.

Concrete, drywall and untreated wood carry a fee at all three. Each load is weighed, and one that holds any garbage is charged on its full weight. Scrap metal and electronics go in at no charge for residents at all three, and metal appliances at McCleary Court and Elgin Mills.

You will need proof that your home is in York Region. Cash, debit, American Express, Mastercard and Visa are taken, and a vehicle bigger than a 16-foot cube truck cannot unload at Elgin Mills.

Garbage and junk removal in Newmarket

In Newmarket, a rented bin takes the junk from a clear-out and the waste from a renovation together: furniture, mattresses, household contents, scrap metal, drywall, cabinets, tile and branches. If something is unusual, call 416-458-4324 before the bin arrives. To choose between a bin and junk removal, see Bin rental or junk removal?

Right now, the Town of Newmarket collects household garbage every other week, up to three bags or containers, and up to three more if each carries a Town garbage tag. In 2026 the tags are $15.00 source [8] for a set of five. A bag or container, with what is in it, can weigh 22 kg at most.

Renovation waste such as concrete, wood and drywall is not taken in the garbage or at the curb.

Furniture, mattress and appliance removal in Newmarket

Furniture, mattresses, box springs and other items too big for a garbage container go out on garbage day in Newmarket, each with a large item tag. In 2026 the tag for a piece of furniture or a mattress is $17.00 source [8], and right now five items can go out at most. Book the pickup by 11 a.m. on the Monday of your garbage week, and take any glass out of a table top or cabinet first.

Appliances, barbecues with the propane tank removed, furnaces, hot water heaters and bikes need a tag and a booked pickup as well, and metal put out without a booking stays at the curb. Remove the doors from fridges, freezers, dishwashers and ovens before they go out.

Where to take hazardous waste in Newmarket

Take household hazardous waste from Newmarket to York Region’s depots: all five of York’s public sites take it from residents at no charge, and the Town points it there. Besides the three that take garbage, two depots take hazardous waste and no garbage: one at 430 Rodick Road and one at 225 Garfield Wright Boulevard in East Gwillimbury.

Paint, motor oil and oil filters, propane tanks, household cleaners, medicines and fluorescent tubes all count, and none of them goes in the garbage or down the drain. Up to 60 litres a day can come in, in the original containers, sealed and labelled, and the containers are not handed back.

Household batteries also go to the Town’s battery bins, by the customer service desk at the Municipal Offices, 395 Mulock Drive, and other Town buildings, during business hours. Car batteries go to a York depot.

Yard waste pickup in Newmarket

Right now, Newmarket picks up yard waste every other week from April to early December, on your scheduled collection day. It takes leaves, brush and tree trimmings, weeds, flowers, pumpkins, corn stalks, hay and straw. Grass, sod, soil, stumps and root balls are not taken.

Use Kraft paper yard waste bags, or a rigid, open-top can of up to 125 litres with a yellow Yard Waste sticker, free from the Town. Each bag, can or bundle has a 22 kg limit. Tie brush with jute or cotton twine in bundles under 1.2 metres long and 0.6 metres across, with no branch 10 cm thick or more.

Yard waste can also go to a York Region depot, for a fee: McCleary Court and the Georgina Transfer Station both take it.

Will a Newmarket load weigh more than the bin includes?

Bricks, plaster and wet wood weigh more than their size suggests. Enter the length, width and height of your pile in our free weight calculator, and it gives a rough weight in tonnes, so before you book you know whether your load may pass the weight your bin includes.

Which garbage bin size suits a Newmarket job?

All three of our bins come to Newmarket: 14, 30 or 40 yard. Two questions pick the size: what is going in, and how much of it there is.

What is going in comes first. Concrete and soil each go in a 14 yard bin of their own, never together, and either one is priced flat, with no charge for weight. Keep them clean too: if anything else is in with them, the bin is not taken away. If you have filled the bin by the time that is found, a charge applies as well. Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size. Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. To see why concrete gets its own bin, read Concrete disposal.

How much comes second. A garage clear-out or a basement of old furniture fills a bin by space, not by weight. If a bin fills up before the job is done, a second bin costs extra, so leave some room when you choose. To compare the three bins side by side, see the Bin size guide.

How big is each bin?

How big is each bin?

40 yard7' high × 20' long × 7'6" wideA whole-house renovation, fitting out a store or office, a long building job.

Before a bin comes to your Newmarket address, look at the way in as well as the spot. The truck needs about 25 feet of headroom to lift its bed, 10 feet of width and 65 feet of straight, clear space to back in. These are rough numbers, so call and describe the spot if yours is tighter.

Bin rental in Newmarket: common questions

Do I need a permit for a bin in Newmarket?

Not on your own land, though where a driveway meets the street can be Town land, since the Town’s road by-law counts the boulevard as part of the road. Newmarket does not allow bins on its roads: disposal and storage bins are not permitted on any Town roadway at any time.

Where is the dump in Newmarket?

No York Region drop-off site is in Newmarket. A household load of garbage can go to York’s centres at 130 McCleary Court or 1124 Elgin Mills Road East, right now Wednesday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday until 3:30 p.m., or to the Georgina Transfer Station, Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In 2026, a load up to 100 kg is $11 source [6], and a heavier one $180 source [6] a tonne.

How much does garbage bin rental cost in Newmarket?

Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. That price includes delivery, pickup and 7 days. Weight over what a bin includes adds to it, and so do a load above the fill line and a bin kept longer. The price is the same anywhere in Newmarket. Get your own price online.

What can go in a bin in Newmarket?

Furniture, mattresses, household contents, wood, drywall, cabinets, tile, carpet, roofing shingles, scrap metal, fencing and branches can go in a bin of household and renovation waste. Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size. Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. Paint, propane tanks, batteries and tires stay out of the bin and go to a drop-off of their own. In Newmarket, household hazardous waste goes to York’s depots, which take it from residents at no charge. If something is unusual, call 416-458-4324 before the bin arrives. For the rest, item by item, see What can go in a bin.

Can I rent a dumpster in Newmarket?

Yes. Big Bin’s 14, 30 and 40 yard roll-off bins go to Newmarket, at the same price as anywhere else we deliver. The Town does not allow bins on its roads, at any time.
