The quote tool, and only the quote tool. Its first three steps ask for the first half of your postal code, the material you are throwing out and the bin size. Those travel in the address bar so the page can work out an answer, and they go no further — they are not stored and not emailed. The first half of a postal code is asked for instead of a street address on purpose: it is enough to tell whether a job is in the delivery area, and it does not identify anybody.

The details step. Before the price is shown, the tool asks for your name and phone number. Both are sent to Big Bin by email, together with the postal-code area, the material, the bin size and the figure you were quoted, so whoever picks it up already knows what you were looking at and who they are calling.

Why it is asked for. So the business knows who to ask for when it calls about the job. Not a mailing list, not sold or shared for anyone else’s marketing, not used to advertise to you. The full price card is published with no form in front of it, so the figures themselves are not being withheld.

The optional email, after the price. Once the figure is on screen you may give an email address to have that quote sent to you. It is optional, it gates nothing, and it is used for that one message and to reach you about that job. It is the only thing this site ever sends to a customer.

Where it goes, and who else handles it. The email is sent through Resend, a third-party email service, and arrives in Big Bin’s own inbox at bigbinservices@gmail.com. Resend processes the message in order to deliver it, and is the only third party involved. There is no database behind this website: the copy in that inbox is where it lives.

How long it is kept. For as long as Big Bin keeps the email, which is a business record rather than a website one. Ask them to delete it and they will — the contact details for asking are below. Nothing is retained by this website itself, because it has nowhere to retain it.

Cookies. Two, both only in the quote tool and neither for tracking. The first is set once you have given your details, holds the single character 1, and stops the page asking for them again; it carries no name and no identifier, and expires within the hour. The second appears only if the form comes back with an error: it holds the name and number you just typed, for ten minutes, so you can correct one field instead of retyping both. Neither is readable by scripts and neither is sent anywhere. There is no analytics, no advertising and no session-recording script on this site, and nothing here reports your visit to anyone.

The weight estimator. Separate, and unchanged. It runs entirely inside your browser. The measurements you type are never sent to a server at all — no address, no email, no sign-up.

Server logs. Like any website, the server that delivers these pages records ordinary request information — the page requested, the time, the browser, and the network address the request came from. That is a technical record used to keep the site working and to investigate faults. It is not combined with anything else and it is not used to build a profile of you.
