I would like to shout out these guys! Finding a waste disposal company that handles heavy materials like concrete without a bunch of hidden fees or headaches is usually very difficult but Big Bin made the process very easy. How dumpster bin rental in Georgetown works
Three steps. You tell us what is going in and where the bin can stand. A truck sets the empty bin on that spot, and later a truck takes it away full. Nobody usually has to be at the house for either visit. We need the exact spot, and room for the truck to get to it.
Our yard is in Mississauga, and the trucks that serve Georgetown also go to Milton, Brampton, Caledon, Oakville and Orangeville.
01
Tell us about the job
Call or email with what you are clearing, where the bin can stand, and when you need it.
02
The bin arrives
A truck sets the bin down where you asked. Nothing is emptied at your place: you or your crew fill it when it suits you.
03
It leaves full
The truck takes the whole bin away, and the load is weighed at the dump.
How much does garbage bin rental in Georgetown cost?
Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. There are two bills, from two different places. If the bin needs the Town of Halton Hills’ Road Occupancy Permit, the Town charges for it and you pay the Town. Everything else is the rental, and a Georgetown address adds nothing to it.
On the rental, the bin size and what goes in set the price. With household and renovation waste, the price includes some weight: 2 tonnes for a 14 yard bin, 3 tonnes for a 30 yard and 4 tonnes for a 40 yard. The full bin is weighed at the dump, and each tonne over what the price includes is added. The fill line marked on each bin shows how high to load it. Going over it costs extra, and so does keeping a bin past 7 days.
If the driver has no room to set the bin down on the day, that is a failed delivery. Bin rental prices lists it with the other extra charges.

Can a bin go on your driveway in Georgetown?
Yes, on your own land, where no Town permit is needed. Land that looks like yours can still belong to the Town: its by-law treats the boulevard and the road allowance as road, and a driveway too where the Town controls it, so the end of a Georgetown driveway can be Town land.
Georgetown and Acton are the two urban centres of the Town of Halton Hills, and in both, a bin on the Town’s road allowance, whether the boulevard, the sidewalk or the roadway, needs a Road Occupancy Permit. Town staff judge each spot on its own, and they look first at whether the bin could go on private property instead.
From mid-November to mid-April, the Town gives no permit for a bin left on the road overnight, except in special cases.
Right now, getting the permit is the renter’s job, not Big Bin’s.
The Town’s permit is for the roads under its own jurisdiction. To see which roads in Georgetown are Halton Region’s, Halton publishes a map of its Regional roads.
| For a bin on the road allowance | The Town of Halton Hills |
|---|---|
| Permit fee in 2026, HST included | $367.25 source [1] |
| Damage deposit, returned after a final inspection | $565.68 source [1] |
| Liability insurance the Town asks to see | $5,000,000 source [1], with the Town named on the policy |
| Time to process | At least 5 business days |
| How long a permit lasts | Up to 14 days |

Where is the dump in Georgetown, and when is it open?
Halton Region’s Halton Waste Management Site is at 5400 Regional Road 25, Milton, and its gates open at 8 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Halton is the regional government for residents of the Town of Halton Hills, Georgetown households included.
It takes credit and debit cards, with no cash or coins. Rubble, brick or concrete holding rebar or wire mesh, or broken into pieces larger than a square foot, is taken as garbage instead, and asbestos needs approval first, by calling 311.
Before the drive, sort the load by material, and secure an open load with a tarp or rope. Soil, fill and rubble must be emptied out of their bags or containers first, and the attendants aren’t allowed to help unload, so bring someone to help with anything heavy.
Through the year, Halton also runs Special Waste Drop-off Days for household hazardous waste and electronics, open to Halton residents only, with no commercial waste.
To check an item before it goes in a rented Georgetown bin, see What can go in a bin.

Garbage and junk removal in Georgetown
In Georgetown, a rented bin takes the junk from a clear-out and the waste from a renovation together: furniture, mattresses, household contents, scrap metal, drywall, cabinets, tile and branches. If something is unusual, call 416-458-4324 before the bin arrives. To choose between a bin and junk removal, see Bin rental or junk removal?
In Georgetown, Halton collects garbage from the curb once every two weeks. Right now a house can set out three bags or cans, each no heavier than 23 kg, and a can or container can be no bigger than 125 litres. Tags raise the limit to six, and they cost 5 for $10 source [10]. Bags give way to wheeled carts between April 2027 and spring 2028.
Furniture, mattress and appliance removal in Georgetown
In Georgetown, Halton takes bulky items every other week with the garbage, three at a time, and anything past three stays at the curb. That covers couches, chairs and tables, and mattresses and box springs wrapped in plastic. Flooring goes too: carpet, underpad, and linoleum bundled and tied at most 1.7 m long and 1 m wide. So does wood, taken apart and tied in bundles of the same size: fencing, picnic tables, shelving, skids and doors. Toilets go with the top or tank off the base, and windows and mirrors up to that size with an X of tape across the glass. What Halton collects this way goes to landfill, and the pickup leaves out building and demolition debris.
Appliances and metal are separate: Halton picks them up by appointment only, and a pickup can take 2 to 3 weeks from the request. Ask for one online or by calling 311, say what the item is, and book before anything goes out. On the day, take the appliance doors off and lay tall appliances flat on the ground.
How much will your load weigh?
Shingles, tile and plaster are heavy for their size. Tell our free calculator how big the pile is, and it estimates your load in tonnes.
Which disposal bin size suits a Georgetown job?
All three of our bins come to Georgetown: 14, 30 or 40 yard. Two questions pick the size: what is going in, and how much of it there is.
What is going in comes first. Concrete and soil each go in a 14 yard bin of their own, never together, and either one is priced flat, with no charge for weight. Keep them clean too: if anything else is in with them, the bin is not taken away. If you have filled the bin by the time that is found, a charge applies as well. Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size. Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. To see why concrete gets its own bin, read Concrete disposal.
How much comes second. A garage clear-out or a basement of old furniture fills a bin by space, not by weight. If a bin fills up before the job is done, a second bin costs extra, so leave some room when you choose. To compare the three bins side by side, see the Bin size guide.
The 40 yard bin, our largest dumpster
The 40 yard is the largest dumpster we rent in Georgetown, with the most room and the most weight included. It takes up no more ground than the 30 yard: the extra room is in its height. For its measurements, the weight that comes with it and the jobs it suits, see 40 yard bin rental.
How big is each bin?
| Bin | Measurements | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| 14 yard | 4'1" high × 11'6" long × 7'6" wide | Gutting a bathroom or kitchen, a garage clear-out, one room taken down to the wall frame. |
| 30 yard | 5'4" high × 20' long × 7'6" wide | A full renovation, taking off a roof, clearing out a house, a mid-size demolition. |
| 40 yard | 7' high × 20' long × 7'6" wide | A whole-house renovation, fitting out a store or office, a long building job. |
Before a bin comes to your Georgetown address, look at the way in as well as the spot. The truck needs about 25 feet of headroom to lift its bed, 10 feet of width and 65 feet of straight, clear space to back in. These are rough numbers, so call and describe the spot if yours is tighter.

Construction bin rental in Georgetown
On a Georgetown construction site, a bin full of household and renovation waste can be swapped for an empty bin of that size. With household waste, the empty bin comes with the same weight included as the first one, and its own 7 days on site, counted from the swap. Each household-waste swap is billed as one trip for a bin that size, never as another rental. There is no swap rate for clean concrete or clean soil, so every bin of either after the first costs the full price again.
A Georgetown site bin that has to go on the road, and any construction supplies left there, need the Town’s permit for the road allowance.
Bin rental for contractors sets out how swaps work on a long job. Construction bin rental helps when the waste changes as the build goes on. Running several Georgetown jobs, or managing a building? See Commercial bin and dumpster rental.
Renting a bin in Georgetown: common questions
Do I need a permit for a bin in Georgetown?
Not on your own land. The end of a Georgetown driveway, where it meets the road, can be Town land. On the Town of Halton Hills’ road allowance, which takes in the boulevard, the sidewalk and the roadway, a bin needs the Town’s Road Occupancy Permit, and Town staff first check whether it could stand on private property. Right now the renter gets that permit, not Big Bin. The permit covers the Town’s roads only, and Halton’s map shows which roads are Regional.
Where is the dump in Georgetown?
Halton Region’s Halton Waste Management Site is at 5400 Regional Road 25, Milton, and its gates open at 8 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Halton is Georgetown’s regional government. Up to 150 kilograms of drywall, wood, shingles or garbage costs $10/load source [8], and a heavier load $221/tonne source [8] on all of its weight, paid by card only.
How much does garbage bin rental cost in Georgetown?
Bin rentals from $718, before HST, for a 14 yard bin of household and renovation waste. That price includes delivery, pickup and 7 days. Weight over what a bin includes adds to it, and so do a load above the fill line and a bin kept longer. The price is the same anywhere in Georgetown. The Town of Halton Hills charges $367.25 source [1] in 2026, HST included, for its Road Occupancy Permit, when a bin needs one on the road. Get your own price online.
What can go in a bin in Georgetown?
Furniture, mattresses, household contents, wood, drywall, cabinets, tile, carpet, roofing shingles, scrap metal, fencing and branches can go in a bin of household and renovation waste. Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size. Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. Paint, propane tanks, batteries and tires stay out of the bin and go to a drop-off of their own. Georgetown households take paint and other hazardous waste to the depot at the Halton site, free, within 20 litres a day, and Halton holds Special Waste Drop-off Days throughout the year, for Halton residents only. If something is unusual, call 416-458-4324 before the bin arrives. For the rest, item by item, see What can go in a bin.
