Bin rental for contractors

Paperwork that does not hold up a site, a bin that turns up, and a number that does not move between the quote and the invoice.

What do contractors get from Big Bin?

Big Bin rents 14, 30 and 40 yard roll-off bins to contractors across its delivery area, and the phone opens at 6:00 in the morning on weekdays — which is when site decisions actually get made. For the vendor documents a general contractor asks for, volume pricing and swap terms, call 416-458-4324 and ask.

Ordering before the day starts

Big Bin’s weekday lines open at six in the morning. That is a small thing that turns out to matter: the decision to get a bin on site is usually made at the start of a shift, not in the middle of the afternoon, and a supplier whose phone desk opens mid-morning is no use at that moment.

Full hours are Monday to Friday, 6:00 am – 6:00 pm. Saturday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Sunday, closed.

Get a price without phoning — four questions and your name and number, and the figure is on the screen.

The vendor paperwork

These are the documents a general contractor asks a hauler for before the truck gets near the site.

Ask us for them when you call 416-458-4324.

CVOR abstract
Ontario’s safety record for a trucking business. It is the first thing a serious general contractor asks a hauler for.
WSIB clearance certificate
Proof the vendor is in good standing for workplace injury coverage. It carries an issue date, so it has to be a current one.
Certificate of insurance
Liability coverage, usually naming your company as an additional insured for the project. This is the one that genuinely cannot be pre-published — it is issued per project.
Waste transportation registration
The registration number under which the waste is legally carried.

Volume pricing

The tiers

Thresholds, discounts, swap terms and how invoicing works for repeat accounts. Call 416-458-4324 with the volume you pull in a month and ask what it gets you.

The number you quoted your client

The problem with bin rental on a fixed-price job is not the price. On a mixed-waste bin the final figure depends on what the load weighs at the scale — a number you need before you fill the bin rather than after.

On clean concrete and clean fill it does not: those are one price for the whole haul, with no weight charge at all and a fill line instead of a tonnage. So the number you quote your client is exposed to the scale on one of the two products, and on the other it is not exposed to it at all.

That is what the weight estimator is for. It publishes what a cubic yard of concrete, asphalt, brick, soil and mixed debris weighs, every figure sourced to a named public agency, so you can work out the tonnage before it becomes an invoice line.

The published price card is on the what a bin costs page, including what can change each product’s price and the jobs we price by phone.

Common questions

Can I order a bin before the working day starts?

Yes. Big Bin opens at 6:00 AM Monday to Friday, which is when site decisions actually get made. Calls from 6:00 AM reach the business rather than a voicemail box.

What vendor documents will Big Bin provide?

Contractors normally need a CVOR abstract, a current WSIB clearance certificate, and a certificate of insurance naming their company. Ask for them on 416-458-4324 when you set the account up.

Does Big Bin offer volume pricing for repeat work?

Call 416-458-4324 with the volume you pull in a month and ask what it gets you.
