What does a bin rental include?

A Big Bin bin rental covers the whole cycle: a truck brings the bin, sets it where you asked for it, leaves it while you fill it, then collects it and hauls the load to a disposal facility. One price covers both truck trips and the disposal. Big Bin runs three sizes — 14 yard, 30 yard and 40 yard — for homeowners and contractors, from a yard in Mississauga, Ontario. Every rental includes 7 days on site. Mixed waste also includes a stated tonnage at the scale; clean concrete and clean fill carry no weight charge at all and are limited by a fill line on the bin instead.

The three sizes

Three, and only three. There is no 4, 6, 8 or 20 yard bin in this fleet, so if a job needs one of those this is not the right supplier.

14yd

A bathroom or kitchen strip-out, a garage clear-out, a small tear-out.

The smallest bin Big Bin owns, and the only size heavy material realistically goes in.

30yd

A full renovation, a roof, a house clear-out, a mid-size demolition.

The volume workhorse. Twice the space of a 14 for bulky, light debris.

40yd

Whole-house renovations, large commercial fit-outs, sustained site work.

The largest size. Bulky and light material only — see the weight estimator.

Dimensions, and what fits on a driveway

The length, width and height of each bin, and how much room a truck needs to drop one. Call 416-458-4324 with where the bin has to stand and we will tell you whether it fits.

What goes in the bin

Debris splits into two kinds, and the difference is weight rather than volume. The same steel box full of renovation waste and full of broken concrete can differ by five times in weight, and disposal is billed by the tonne — which is why heavy material is priced separately everywhere in this industry.

  • Mixed renovation waste

Wood, drywall, cabinets, flooring, furniture, general demolition debris.

  • Clean concreteheavy

Broken concrete and nothing else. One sheet of drywall reclassifies the whole load.

  • Soil or fillheavy

Excavated dirt and clean fill, from a garden bed or a building site.

Asphalt is not a material Big Bin takes, in any bin size.

Big Bin does not take contaminated soil. Clean soil and fill go in a 14 yard bin, wherever the job is.

Work out what your load weighs before you pick a size — it is the number that decides the bill.

How a rental runs

  1. 01

    Tell us about the job

Request a quote, or call 416-458-4324, with what you are clearing out and where the bin has to sit. That is enough to work out the size and the price.

  2. 02

    The bin arrives

A truck brings it and sets it where you asked. Boards go under it on a driveway. You fill it at your own pace.

  3. 03

    We take it away

The truck collects the bin and hauls the load to a disposal facility, where it is weighed and tipped.

Common questions

What is included in a Big Bin roll-off bin rental?

A Big Bin rental covers the whole cycle: a truck brings the bin, sets it where you asked for it, leaves it with you while you fill it, then collects it and hauls the load to a disposal facility. One price covers both truck trips and the disposal, and every rental includes 7 days on site. What each size costs is on the price card.

Which bin sizes does Big Bin actually own?

Three: 14 yard, 30 yard and 40 yard. That is the whole fleet. Big Bin does not own a 4, 6, 8 or 20 yard bin, so if a job needs one of those this is not the right supplier.

Does Big Bin rent to homeowners as well as businesses?

Both. Big Bin serves residential customers and commercial customers, including contractors who need a bin standing on a job site.

How far will Big Bin deliver a bin?

The delivery area runs east to Oshawa, north to Orangeville and west to Hamilton, from a base in Mississauga, Ontario. Which towns inside that boundary are served on any given day is confirmed by phone.
