Where are Mississauga’s Community Recycling Centres?
Peel Region owns and runs its Community Recycling Centres, and Fewster and Battleford are the ones in Mississauga. Each takes most household waste, takes household hazardous waste and other recyclables free, has donation areas for reusable goods such as kitchenware, home décor, clothing, linens and books, and charges for some items.
Residents and eligible small businesses can drop off materials at any of Peel’s centres. Peel’s waste line, for Mississauga and Brampton, is 905-791-9499.

Fewster Community Recycling Centre
Peel takes small tip trucks, up to 7.5 m long, at only the Fewster CRC, and from a tip trailer of up to 12 m, Fewster accepts yard waste and nothing else. It also handles business hazardous waste for eligible businesses, by appointment, once Peel has approved the business’s application.
Election signs go in free for up to 30 days after an election day, and for a fee after that, and confidential paper is shredded free, two banker boxes a vehicle a day, as long as the bins have room. Peel’s garbage tags can be bought in person at Fewster, and so can backyard composters, from April to June, and kitchen containers.
Fewster is at 1126 Fewster Dr., and its gate is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., seven days.

What can you take to the Mississauga dump?
Garbage, yard waste and renovation material are charged, and recycling, metal, electronics and appliances are free. Scrap metal up to 2.4 m (8 ft) long goes in free at any Peel centre.
Tires, wheel rims and wagon wheels are neither picked up at the curb nor accepted at Peel’s centres. Used clothing is taken free, as a donation, at every Peel centre.
Renovation material such as drywall, shingles, tiles, flooring, cabinets, windows and sliding glass doors, and lumber pays a fee, except any metal; wood has to be cut to 1.2 m (4 ft) or shorter, and longer pieces aren’t taken, and insulation has to be double bagged. Big rolls of carpet, toilets, large branches, stumps and logs that unload easily, and sod are each taken for a fee, and by car or pickup, so are stones and small loads of soil, gravel or clean fill.
A tip-trailer load of clean fill, brick or clean concrete goes to one of Peel’s centres in Brampton: see Brampton dump. Household hazardous waste goes in free at Fewster and Battleford. Asbestos isn’t accepted, and neither are grass clippings or radioactive waste, PCB-contaminated waste and road flares; for firearms, explosives and ammunition, contact Peel Police.

Electronics recycling at the Mississauga dump
Before you go to a Mississauga Community Recycling Centre
Bring proof. A resident can show a driver’s licence, a utility, internet or phone bill, a municipal tax bill, or a lease up to a year old; a small business, a signed letter on its letterhead; and a contractor, a signed contract or work order with a Peel address that names the company vehicle. Everything you bring has to come from Peel.
You can’t walk or cycle in where cars unload, though the reuse and hazardous waste areas take people on foot or by bike. You unload the load yourself; staff may choose whether to help; each material goes in its own bin, children under 12 stay in the vehicle, and the load has to be secured. Sorting renovation material into piles before you go saves time at the centre.
| Vehicle | At a Peel centre |
|---|---|
| Cars, vans and pickups | Taken |
| A vehicle with a trailer, 12 m (40 ft) long at most | Taken |
| Box trucks and cube vans, 5 m (16 ft) long at most | Taken |
| A vehicle weighing 5 tonnes or more with its load | Not taken |
| Dump trucks, stake trucks, roll-off trucks, garbage packers, tractor trailers | Not taken |
Too much for one trip?
When a load is too big for a car or a trailer, Big Bin can bring a bin to the address. One price covers the delivery, the pickup and 7 days. Clean concrete or clean soil goes in a 14 yard bin of its own, with nothing else in it, for one flat price.
Big Bin delivers bins in Mississauga, in 14 yard, 30 yard and 40 yard sizes.
The bin size guide shows which size a load needs, what can go in a bin checks it item by item, bin and dumpster rental cost shows what a rental includes, and roll-off bins explained covers how the truck works.
For a renovation, see construction bin rental, or weigh a bin against junk removal. Get a quote for your address and dates.

How much does your load weigh?
Peel charges a minimum up to 50 kg and by the kilogram past it. Our free calculator takes the size of the pile and what it is made of, and puts an estimated weight on your load.
The Mississauga dump: common questions
Is the Mississauga dump open on Sundays and holidays?
On Sundays, yes: Fewster and Battleford open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day of the week. Both close on Remembrance Day, 11 November, and on statutory and provincial holidays.
Is there a landfill in Mississauga?
Peel manages former landfills, including their ongoing monitoring; a Mississauga resident can drop off at any of Peel’s centres, Fewster and Battleford among them.
What can you drop off for free at the Mississauga dump?
A load of only recycling, metal, electronics or appliances goes in free, and so do household hazardous waste, reusable goods and clothing at the donation areas, scrap metal up to 2.4 m long, metal-only boats, a barbecue’s propane tank, at the hazardous waste depot and sharps in a biohazard container. At Fewster, paper shredding is free too, and so are election signs for 30 days after an election.
Does the Mississauga dump take tires?
Is scrap metal free at the Mississauga dump?
Yes. Large appliances — a fridge, freezer, stove, washer, dryer, dishwasher, air conditioner or furnace — go in free, and so does an empty hot water tank, and a steel or other metal-only boat. Drain a lawn mower’s gas and oil first and bring them in containers as household hazardous waste, free; car parts are charged.
